EXPLORING THE HISTORY OF BIOCHEMISTRY

Do you know how DNA was first discovered?

And when did we find out that enzymes are proteins?

Take a little trip with us through the history of biochemistry.

Here are 7 historical pictures and the stories behind them.

A WAY TOWARDS GREENER LABS

Scientists worldwide have saved >60% of plastic waste in their experiments.

Of course, without risking data quality.

However, as your time is limited and change is not always easy, we want to share a helpful resource.

Here is a simple guide to help you start your sustainability journey.

SCIENTIFIC INSPIRATION FOR YOU

When thinking about your project, do circular RNAs (circRNA) play a role?

Especially if your project ties to cancer, that might be more likely than you think:

Left: electron microscopy from Siaw GE et al.; 2016, DOI:10.1073/pnas.1605517113. Right: edited schematic of circRNA function by Y. Wu et al. 2026, DOI: 10.1002/biof.70109.

In BioFactors, Wu et al. reviewed the various truly exciting roles of circRNA, from those that are translated into proteins to those that prevent p53 degradation.

However, strategies for using them as biomarkers and cancer vaccines have been proposed too.

Dive in and see if circRNAs are something relevant to your work.
